Intel and the Creation of Articul8, a New GenerAI Software Company

In a strategic move to expand its footprint in the domain of enterprise software powered by artificial intelligence, Intel Corp., in partnership with DigitalBridge Group, Inc., has announced the formation of Articul8 AI, Inc. This new venture, independent from Intel, provides its corporate clients with a comprehensive, secure, and vertically optimized generative AI (GenAI) software platform.

Origins and Development

Articul8 AI was developed from the intellectual property and technology created at Intel. This initial development was executed in collaboration with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where a generative AI system capable of reading text and images was deployed within BCG's data centers to meet their security requirements. The nearly two-year collaboration between Intel and BCG was pivotal for the product's development, which is now available to multiple clients across sectors demanding high levels of security and specialized knowledge.

Features and Capabilities

Articul8 AI offers a turnkey GenAI software platform that delivers speed, security, and cost efficiency, helping large enterprises to operationalize and scale AI. Although the platform was launched and optimized for Intel hardware architectures, including Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors and Intel® Gaudi® accelerators, it is compatible with a variety of hybrid infrastructure alternatives.

Impact on the Market and Future Potential

The launch of Articul8 is a part of Intel’s strategy to raise capital for CEO Pat Gelsinger’s comeback plan, which includes building new chip factories in the U.S. and Europe, as well as introducing advanced new chip manufacturing nodes over the next four years. Articul8 fits into Gelsinger’s plans to roll out new software products and services, including those driven by GenAI, to compete with rivals such as Nvidia and AMD and make Intel's hardware more appealing for a range of applications.

Leadership and Strategic Collaboration

Arun Subramaniyan, formerly Vice President and General Manager in Intel’s Data Center and AI Group, has taken the reins of Articul8 as its CEO. Intel and Articul8 will remain strategically aligned, with Intel’s plans to utilize Articul8's GenAI enterprise software for internal use cases and to offer it to end customers as part of a joint market partnership.

Investment and Support

DigitalBridge Ventures, the investment initiative of DigitalBridge, has served as the lead investor for Articul8. Additionally, Intel, along with a consortium of established venture capital investors, including Fin Capital, Mindset Ventures, Communitas Capital, GiantLeap Capital, GS Futures, and Zain Group, have taken an equity stake in the company.

Conclusion

The creation of Articul8 AI marks a significant step in Intel's effort to diversify its portfolio and broaden its influence in the burgeoning enterprise AI market. With a focus on delivering secure, scalable, and efficient generative AI solutions, Articul8 positions itself as a key player in the digital transformation of businesses globally.
